13 Favorite Fingerless Mitt Patterns

1. My Go-To Knit Fingerless Mitts

These work up so quickly, the length is easily adjusted as is the width. It is no problem to make them bigger when I am making them for one of my sons. One of the best things is that they can be reversible when you seam them carefully.

They are found in the book One More Skein by Leigh Radford available on Amazon. (There is a Kindle version as well as a physical book, and at least right now that version is available for free with Kindle Unlimited)

2. Kids’ Unicorn Crochet Mitts

I am going to make these for Strawberry! These are from Lady Dust Bunny, you should definitely check out this blog.

You will find written instructions and helpful photos.

There is even a video tutorial to help you create these cute little mitts. And yes, there is adult sizing available.

3. Crocheted Paw Prints Mitts

These work up super quick, and there are even hat and scarf patterns that match. These are from A Stitch At A Time. These make such a quick gift, and every time I have made them for someone they love them.

4. Crocheted Wristwarmers With Contrasting Trim

I love these mitts. They are simple but also a bit more feminine. The blog post at Crochet Millan is full of step by step pictures to help you as you construct these.

5. Blank Canvas Knit Hand Warmers

These are a fantastic basic knit hand warmer. The great thing about this pattern is that it has a thumb gusset as part of the construction, so there is more structure to the design. I personally like this kind of mitt because my thumb gets more coverage than other types, and that can really help with my arthritis on cold days. These are made with worsted weight yarn and knit up in a jiffy. The pattern is a free Ravelry download.

6. Malia Wrist Warmers – Crochet

Pretty sure that all three of my daughters ( I always count The Thoughful One as my daughter too) will want a set of these. And I have so many interesting buttons in my button box, so I am sure I can find and make crochet something unique for each of them. This lovely pattern is available over at Yarn and Chai

7. 2 Hour Knit Hand Warmers

The simplicity of this design makes is a really good one for variegated, striped or hand dyed yarns. These would be a good use for a luxury yarn because they use a small amount. Check them out over on Ravelry.

8. Half Doubles

I enjoy working with the half double crochet stitch (US terminology). I really like the fabric it makes. There is also a double crochet stitch version available if you want them to work up even faster. Go get the pattern on the Hooked By Anna blog.

9. Vintage Arm Warmers

These can be found on Whistle and Ivy, along with so many other pretty projects and ideas. I really like the length for these. Another use for some of the buttons in my button tin.

10. Easy Garter Stitch Fingerless Mitts For Adults

New to knitting. You only need to know how to knit for this pattern. The garter stitch is just when you knit every row. No purling required. And they are also worked flat, a plus for new knitters. These are also available as a free Ravelry download.

11. Winter Sunset Crochet Warmers

These are just so pretty, and the longer length on the fingers is very romantic. Jump over to Ravelry for the free download that is available there.

12. Mrs. Fitz Wristwarmers

Do you love Outlander? These were inspired by that story, and the pattern is available on the Polly Foo Foo blog. You can read the books or listen to them on Audible. Or the Libby app is a great choice for a free listen by connecting to your local library if it is available in your area.

13. Queen Vicki’s Wristlets

These are on my needles right now. This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download. I am using Knit Picks Palette in the garnet heather colorway.

So there you have it, my current favorite fingerless mitt patterns for both crochet and knitting. I tried to include as many free patterns as possible.
