What Inspires Me

Hi, my name is Jacque. I am blessedly average in every way. And I like that about myself. I love to learn, and READ. I am always listening to a book or podcast or a digital course of some kind. (I am certain to share resources throughout this site and blog, because I am so obsessive about this.) I work in marketing. I am passionate about equality and am always looking for ways to improve that in not just my local community but also worldwide.

Finding ways to be creative is so ingrained in my life and personality that if I do not find at least a few minutes each day to devote to making something I feel disconnected.

Obviously, much of the joy and purpose in my life comes from being a mother and grandmother. I am fortunate enough to have four amazing children and three beautiful grandchildren. I’ll tell you a smidgen about each of them, while still maintaining a bit of privacy for each. I’ve also promised that I will not post photos of them without permission. So you most likely will not be seeing their lovely faces, and I will always refer to them with a pseudonym.

My Children

The Extra Bronte Sister

My oldest daughter. Gifted writer and teacher. My rock and anchor on the really tough days. I get to live with this one, more for myself and not for any need she has. In fact, I am certain that many days she would like to cut bait and run. She takes good care of me and keeps me sane(ish).

Han Jovi

This is my oldest boy. Whip smart. Talented Artist. Junior high inventor of the super hero Insidious Pickle. My go-to source for humor. My go-to source when I need to remember to be more forgiving and compassionate. My go-to source when I cannot remember how to spell.

Bugs

My sweet little girl, who is now a kick-ass caregiver at an assisted living center and so brave at times that it inspires me. She is also a fantastic mommy. She is married to The Bearded One, a man who displays more patience some days than seems humanly possible.

Gomer

My baby boy. Now grown into such a responsible man, husband and father. Also more often than not my technical support. Fixer of broken items throughout my house. Somehow he managed to find and keep his beautiful wife, The Thoughtful One. More often than not she is the one that reminds the rest of us to be decent humans. They are the parents of little twins.

My Little Loves

Bubbles

This little girl made me a grandma. It seems ridiculous to me now that I ever even resented the idea of being a grandma, that I didn’t want to be “that old” She is pictured above, although that was taken quite a while ago and she is no longer that tiny. She is my hanging out buddy. My “let’s go eat seafood” buddy. My reality check (kids are so damn honest sometimes!) Bubbles’ daddy, Speed Racer, is also an important part of our family,

The Twins, Taco and Strawberry

It is just easiest to call them after the names they chose for the puppies they recently acquired. (Taco was almost Dollar Tree, so….whew) Such a delightful surprise for our family to have them join us a little over four years ago. (the twins, not the puppies,. I still cannot fathom choosing to bring the chaos of two puppies into a house already subjected to twin preschoolers) They are busy, busy little people. In fact, I used to joke when Han Jovi was little that he had two speeds, running and asleep. These little ones are exactly the same.

Taco (dog’s name is actually Taco Banana) always “goes big” Everything has got to be loud, fast and exciting. Even the baby doll received at Christmas was re-imagined as a gun.

Strawberry (dog’s name is actually Strawberry Strawberry) focuses on MAGIC and is drawn to beauty. And silliness. In fact, the twins are at that stage when they think they are great comedians but are navigating what humor actually is. So the name Strawberry Strawberry was delivered with giggling pride. This grandbaby is actually fascinated when I crochet or knit, so Meemaw is excited to share.
