Free Large Crochet Hat Pattern Using Up Scraps
One of the goals I’ve set is to make and donate 50 hats for refugees. I’ve been using up a lot of the extra yarn I have. Full skeins when I can, all those extras or impulse purchases for which I had no plan and then they’ve just ended up sitting there. At first I was trying to make each hat different, but as the weeks have passed I realized that I could get more done if I did not have to continually stop and look at a pattern. So I reverted to the basic crochet hat pattern I’ve used for years. (decades?!?!?) I decided to mostly crochet the hats, because I crochet so much faster than I knit.
This pattern will make both an adult medium and adult large crochet hat. All that you need to do is change hook size and add one additional row for the large. It uses worsted weight yearn. You can see by the one that Han Jovi is modeling here that I have been able to use even small amounts by adding stripes in varying patterns to make this free large crochet hat pattern useful as a stash buster.
