My Top 5 Dream Projects
I do not knit as well or quickly as I crochet. But I LOVE knitting and there are so many beautiful knit patterns that I want to try. Here are my top 5.
1. Kaffe Fassett’s Long Leaf Coat
In a way, everything designed by Kaffe Fasset is on this list. You can go check out more of his work here. He is also an amazing quilt designer, you can view his work for that type of fiber art here on his site.
I fell in love with this coat the first time I saw it. The colors are so vibrant but earthy at the same time.
I believe I could wear it forever and never tire of it.
2. Cheryl Oberle’s Irish Diamond Shawl
I had a difficult time finding images of this shawl that would work, so I ended up just snapping a picture from the book I have that includes this pattern. The image quality is beyond terrible, I am so sorry.
I originally found the book, Folk Shawls by Cheryl Oberle at my local library. The library can be a great resource for written patterns and ideas that you may not find on the internet, or if you just want one pattern from the book. I like to check there where I find a pattern on Ravelry or Pinterest that is from a physical book. However, I fell in love with all of the designs in this book so I bought a copy. I like looking to see if I can find a used one in good condition on Amazon before buying new. (Always check what the final cost is with shipping) This is something that may save money.
I had a hard time deciding which is my favorite. And I have made one of the simpler shawls included in the book. The patterns are easy to follow.
3. Boundless by Christa Giles
I’ve always wanted to make this for The Extra Bronte Sister. I love the green that this artist (Jamie Dixon) used for their work. But as you can see on the design’s Ravelry page it looks gorgeous in a variety of colors and fibers.
4. Cable Cardigan by Patty Lyons for Vogue Knitting
Cables are difficult for me. I am fairly certain that by the time I finished this sweater I would have had enough practice to correct that. I wonder how many times I will have to start over though? Worth trying, definitely worth trying. I like the idea of making it in a neutral like the grey pictured here. Here is where you can get the pattern.
5. Koch Fractal Scarf by Natalia Moreva
Such exquisite color work! Her website is one of my favorite places on the internet. I love owls and she has some mittens there I want to make as well. Actually she has many to choose from, different kinds of birds and animals and more traditional designs. I’ve made one pair of mittens from her line of designs before and the patterns are well written.
